Sheets of Mica

Sheets of mica were used as the stove window on older style stoves. Mica is an extremely thin material (no more than about 1mm thick), transparent, and has a slightly yellowish tint. Mica is a heat resistant material which is why it was used on stoves for the stove window.

Generally mica is not used anymore by stove manufacturers and has been replaced by ceramic heat resistant stove glass.
